Sofascore and Brazilian football legend Zico joined forces in a project set to leave a football legacy to upcoming talents in their pursuit of excellence. They both presented a newly redesigned Sofascore Player of the Season award, which honors the best football players in the world.

The Redesigned Player of the Season trophy is carefully crafted from pieces of rejuvenated football pitch, symbolizing the roots of every football journey. This award connects 50 players from professional leagues worldwide to their humble beginnings, serving as a reminder of the communities that supported their rise to greatness.
“Football is more than just a game; it’s a journey fueled by dreams and sustained by persistence. The Player of the Season award from Sofascore represents the effort that every player puts into reaching their goals. I’m proud to partner with Sofascore in renovating a pitch at my academy, where the next generation of football stars will begin their journey.”

All trophies are awarded based on seasonal Sofascore Rating, the most objective measurement of player performance, globally acclaimed by both players and football fans. Sofascore’s algorithm turns numerous statistics and pitch movement into one clear number, reflecting the player’s skill and performance.
Zlatko Hrkać, CEO of Sofascore, emphasized the global sports platform’s responsibility for paving the way for young players:
“This initiative goes beyond celebrating current stars, we want to inspire future footballers. Every effort in sports takes you a step closer to realizing your own dreams. Partnering with Zico, a legend known for his persistence and excellence, aspires us to motivate young players with a message that hard work and dedication will pave the way to success.” Hrkać added, “Traditionally, awards have celebrated brief moments of brilliance. The Sofascore Player of the Season Award, however, honors the consistent greatness throughout the season.”

Whole project was presented in the beautiful Croatian city – Zadar, located in Dalmatian coast, not far from the birthplace of Croatia’s biggest footballer, and Sofascore ambassador, Luka Modrić.
